PhD Councils
Every faculty has a PhD council, which represents the interests of that faculty’s PhDs, organizes social events and has regular meetings with their Graduate School. GRIN is in touch with every PhD council to provide support when needed, collect input on the topics we’re working on and flag any issues that arise for PhDs. If you run into faculty-specific problems or questions or if you have ideas for events, you can contact your PhD council!
Co-governance councils
Apart from the PhD councils, students and staff at the Universtiy of Groningen are represented in several co-governance councils. There is a university-wide University Council and each faculty has a faculty council. Employed PhD candidates are eligible to vote for the staff section of these councils. If you are interested in learning more about the role and responsibilities of the councils or joining a council, you can find more information here.
